sometimes it feels like nothing matters sometimes it feels like everything matters so we invent a separate self for all the secrets we’ll never tell we take our stories from television we’re haunted by our own ambition and no one’s looking out for each other when everything is a competition everyone is casting spells building myths around themselves and all we want is everything and all we find is suffering the point of everything i guess is “don’t give in to bitterness” because you and i are here right now and nothing matters anyhow so take it easy take it forever i hope this song makes you feel better it’s been a good year and we’re together so take it easy take it forever i suppose i should be clear i am indifferent to exclusive premieres on someone’s website or wherever it’s in the ether it’s lost forever cause everyone just stays at home with seven tabs of google chrome and we’re nostalgic for cross bones style i’ll look for you left of the dial left of the dial but i heard your band on NPR I hope that means that you’ll go far i hope it matters a little more maybe it does but i’m not sure either way let’s raise our glass drink to the future and to the past drink for all the songs we missed when no one payed a publicist and take it easy take it forever i hope this song makes you feel better it’s been a good year and we’re together so take it easy take it forever

so we never got famous and we never left home there were times when i was lonely i was never alone and all my friends got tired everybody moves on i always seemed to find a reason and i  i kept singing songs some were borne of imitation of the people i admired some were borne of pure ambition others borne of desire some were borne of a compulsion or an irrational fear that if i didn’t get it all down i would somehow disappear sometimes it feels like it takes all that you’ve got just to keep from unraveling sometimes it feels just like you won the whole goddamned thing i used to want to make a record just to know i was alive it took a while for me to figure out my own way to survive the only virtue is irreverence claim your own authority and never let yourself get bitter don’t forget that you are free take a moment to remember you’re alive and you’re awake take your time to look around you take your time to make mistakes there’s something infinite inside you that no one else can ever know there is is stillness and a silence a place where no one else can go sometimes it feels like you get lost in the world and you’re tired of wandering sometimes if feels just like you won the whole goddamned thing

Losing Time 03:50
I’ve been losing time again seasons get away from me trying to chase away these blues singing in a minor key i was such a fatalist build it up and tear it down the moon is following the tide is it the other way around? you could open up your heart to people that you’ve never met a poet for the modern age famous on the internet i could teach the world to end you could paint the front door red yeah i’ve seen your video and i’ll love you till i’m dead I remember all the things you used to say In the evening just before the light was gone Now I'm on the outside And I'm far away From that feeling I was chasing all along happiness will come in waves i just had that dream again someone shut the whole thing down now it’s hard to find your friends what’s the point of all of this? is there a meaning to this game? what is it we’re fighting for? I don’t think I caught your name? build it up and watch it all come crashing down when its over start to build it up again Even if its not the life you dreamed about everything you did was worth it in the end celebrate the things you love this is where you’re meant to be try and keep an open heart dream a little dream of me
4.
We made our own world and it’s only a dream but we’re in it together when you’re fighting a war sometimes you lose the thing you love the most and i know i’m alone i know that i’m older and it feels like forever i was trying to go back to the way that things were i was chasing a ghost I’m a million miles away stumbling through my 9 to 5 I’m not sure what happens next But it feels good to be alive you were banging the drum i was ringing the bell we were full of ambition i was playing it cool you were casting your spell we were doomed from the start at the end of the day we did all that we could not to burn down the mission we had nothing to prove except to ourselves when it al came apart Lately I’ve been losing sleep Writing letters to myself I’ve got promises to keep And a dream too long to tell I’ve been trying to get across changes i’ve been going through i wanted this to mean something even just to me and you
5.
it was all a dream I used to read tape op magazine pavement and neutral milk hotel tube amps and reel to reel machines close the bedroom door get tangled up in tapes and cords and plug the 58 into the 424 i had no plans and no ambitions except maybe to forget the world outside because if i could forget the world outside i’d feel ok it was a most irreverent mission i didn’t have anywhere else to go it was a place to put things i didn’t know I had to say Later on I had a band Camden Power was a fan what was that line that says “Freedom is to be understood and to understand”? He did some covers of our songs We traded emails off and on One night he tells me he saw God then 3 weeks later he was gone I don’t know why these things happen Maybe no one is meant for anything at all Maybe all of this is only meant to pass the time but yeah i’ve always been that singer who sang the words like they meant too much and that’s because the words always mean too much in my mind
6.
i wanted everything and nothing maybe i’m never sure of anything i was just searching for a feeling something to keep me from unraveling i was just following the changes i was just listening for the chords i’d known searching for something that’s familiar trying to find somewhere that feels like home i know one day that we will be forgotten maybe this was all just meant to pass the time a way and if it’s good then in a way it makes us feel a little less alone? i never cared about religion i only wanna to sing a righteous song i was just looking for a good time i wanna find a way to get along i didn’t need to know the reasons for all these changes we’ve been going through I only wanted this to matter even if only just for me and you i know one day that we will be forgotten maybe this was all just meant to pass the time a way and if it’s good then in a way it makes us feel a little less alone?

See there's something that's wrong with my heart I never knew who I was I've been stumbling along in the dark Looking out for your love And I'm out on the edge of the world Waiting for you Looking out for your love Got away from myself for a while I didn't know where I was In invisible Cities at night Looking out for your love And I'm out on the edge of the world Waiting For you Looking out for your love I was in the basement of a bar I was at the end of a subway car I was falling asleep on a silver cloud I was wondering where you are now And I'm out on the edge of the world Waiting for you Looking out for your love

about

"Beat Radio are a band formed upon the notion of art as an undying passion." - Jon Doyle, Wake the Deaf

"The thoughts, notions, and feelings that connect the art and the audience are contained here in the latest Beat Radio song cycle that provides music for meditative moments and endless eras of thoughts and cascading perspective." - Simon Gompers, Impose

Liner Notes:

You return once more to the summer lawns, recently turned golden. Though, now there's a little more September in the sunset. A few more ghost stories to tell your friends. Maybe drinking beers from time to time. Equal parts stardust, fools, and nonsense. You laugh at a few inside jokes. Realize that you're still alive. Still susceptible to falling in love. And so, you replace the strings on your guitar. You stumble through your 9 to 5. Still taking the train from Bellmore. You see the best minds of your generation destroyed by the internet, starving, hysterical naked. You watch your friends move away. Their letters go from blue ink to cell phone screen to nothing. Some nights you ask yourself: Whatever happened to the girl with the tattoo sleeves? Whatever happened to the bloodless revolution? Searching for somewhere that feels like home. This is the irreverent mission. The fireworks illuminating the night sky. The abyss and the wonder. The fresh air in your lungs.

There was a moment when you went from asking the question to finding the answer. And you know it when you close your eyes. Death isn't the remedy. You enjoy the neon letters when you walk down the street. The colors of the hometeam. The comeback story. Written in spray paint and compressed in mp3s. Every minute is a testimony. Every word matters. This is your humble declaration: Take it. From the stage to the bedroom to the street corner. Take it. From the hospital room to the midnight concert venue to the teenage diary. Take it. From heart beat to sunrise to elegy. Take it, forever.
