I know I haven't been here and it's been a hard year but I've got faith in the future if I swallow my pride be on your side I know things will get better Sometimes it's hard to find the light But we've still got time to make it right We can take it slow It's just you and me Open up our hearts to the mystery Out here on the street One hand waving free Never looking back this is alchemy the world broke my heart things fall apart I couldn't get it together that's when I needed you you carried me through showed me how to remember sometimes it's hard to find the joy the harmony that's underneath the noise There's a secret code between you and me we'll build our own world with our own gravity falling at your feet in the mystery hiding out in dreams this is alchemy I waited too long to say what I felt in my heart in my heart We can take our time It's just you and me Open up our hearts to the mystery Out here on the street One hand waving free Untethered by the world this is alchemy There's a secret code between you and me we'll build our own world with our own gravity falling at your feet in the mystery hiding out in dreams this is alchemy

I still have that same dream I still see you there In the moonlight floating downstream I’ve chased that feeling everywhere You were always on my mind Though i wandered aimlessly And my heart knows what it needs But my head gets lost at sea There’s a darkness in this world That we’re not meant to understand And if it all goes down in flames I’ll remember who i am I woke up in a strange place Everything felt new The world will teach you to remember I knew what i needed to do I got lost along the way And not every dream comes true But i need you by my side And i’d walk through fire for you And there’s a darkness in this world That we’re not meant to understand And if it all comes crashing down I’ll stay to true to who i am

I was stumbling in the redbrick morning When the sun was turning everything to gold All i ever did was what i wanted All i ever really wanted was control I’m not afraid, i’m someone else Making mistakes, losing myself It’s getting dark and our dreams are gone Everyone I know, just holding on I was better when i wasn’t thinking I was better when i lived in my own head I was walking in a redbrick morning I was wishing i could disappear instead Snake in the grass, wolf at the door We’ve made it through hard times before I was a train running off the rails You disappeared just like vapor trails You've got a heavy heart I know you feel alone Hold onto where you're from Someday we’ll get back home I’m not afraid I’m someone else Making mistakes, losing myself Fighting a war we don’t understand Scatter the ashes and best laid plans Snake in the grass, wolf at the door We’ve made it through hard times before It’s getting dark and our dreams are gone Everyone I know, just holding on

I know you've gotta find your way But I'll be here If you are hurting You need to learn to make mistakes To be untroubled In your searching I hope that you Will build a life That's as big as any dream that you can dream May your heart be full of love May no darkness pull you under And wherever you may go May your days be full of wonder I've seen the thunder and the rain I know that high And lonesome feeling I can't protect you from that pain But in the truth There is a healing We all must learn To say goodbye And surrender to what we can't understand There is magic in the world And there's no sense in denying No one ever gets it right But we all need to keep trying I hope that you Will build a life That's as big as any dream that you can dream May your heart be full of love May no darkness pull you under And wherever you may go May your days be full of wonder

Everyone I Know, Just Holding On
By John P. Darcy
Los Angeles, February 2019

The stakes feel so high these days. Time seems to be running out. Brian and I text all of the time and the recurring thread is it’s now or never to actualize all of our ambitions. Still so much distance left to run. The photo on the cover is from January 2018 on the beach in Montauk. It’s us with our close circle of friends. It had been forever since we were all together. We were there to celebrate Brian’s 40th birthday. 40 is a benchmark, an over / under. A wrecking ball had recently touched down. That time in Montauk felt like a crossroads. A beach town in winter. Brian and I made a tacit pact—our lives were decidedly still in front of us. Radio daydreams never end.
